West Virginia Football "Coal Rush" Game - Select Frame

This panoramic photo captures the team runout at Milan Puskar Stadium during the West Virginia Mountaineers annual “Coal Rush” game. First started in 2024, the “Coal Rush” game quickly became a popular tradition designed to celebrate the bravery and work ethic of West Virginia’s mining communities. For this game, the traditional blue and gold WV colors are set aside, and both the fans and team wear black. The "Coal Rush" uniforms even feature matte black helmets designed to mimic a miner's "Black Hat," complete with a center stripe fading to look like a headlamp.
