Shocker fans came dressed for the first three-color stripe-out to celebrate the start of a new era and cheer on their Wichita State men's basketball team, as they handily defeated the Houston Cougars 81-63 in their inaugural home opener in the American Athletic Conference.  A capacity crowd of 10,506 fans filled Charles Koch Arena at this nationally televised event.  The move to the AAC was seen as beneficial to both the conference and team, as it adds a perennial national contender to the American Athletic Conference, raising its basketball profile.
